Rodney Richards
Rodney retired from NJ State Government, Treasury Department, after 39 years as a purchasing agent and contracts manager, as well as stints in computer operations and programming. Rod’s expertise is in Information Technology hardware, software and services, as well as ten years procuring electricity, natural gas, and solar for 500 state agencies using new bid techniques, even the first online Internet reverse auction in 2006.
He is an avid writer and poet with nine books published since 2013. His Amazon book Free-Spirited Poems published in 2024. He’s critiqued 5,000 written pieces, edited and published two dozen print and ebooks of others through his company, ABLiA Media. His latest book, Knock. Open the Door champions permanent world peace to the leaders, tycoons, and peoples of the world.
Rod is an active follower of Baha’u’llah, founder of the worldwide Baha’i Faith, and has served in local, regional, and national roles. He promotes social, cultural, and religious unity, nonviolence, and elimination of prejudice and racism in all forms.
In his community, Rod has volunteered as a trained dispute resolution mediator, serving 24 years in Hamilton courts. He also served on his community’s Environmental Advisory Commission for seven years, helping to establish a Green Team. Since 1984 he’s volunteered at his town’s public library and local garden club.
Married 54 years, now widowed, Rod has two very accomplished children and two incredible grandchildren.
